Carly has been playing with a set of lacing cards for about two hours, with no sign of stopping. She says she's sewing like Mommy. Actually, that is what my sewing ends up like, haha!
I worked with her on her first one and she seemed to understand the concept of proceeding around the shape to each hole in order. But I think she prefers the back and forth, tangled up method. And she's having a great time untangling them so she can start all over. Go figure!

She is soo stink'n cute! Just like her mommy :)
her pink nailpolish looks better than mine!
Okay, I WANT those sewing cards for Boog!!! And her look in the first photo is priceless--that's exactly how I look after a bout of sewing! :) Do you think a 2-yr-old could manage the "thread"???
She is seriously a doll! Where can I find one of those toys?? My little girl would love this!
Thanks ladies!
I think a 2-yo would do just fine. When Carly was 2, I gave her a large blunt yarn needle tied to embroidery floss and she had a great time with a piece of scrap felt. So even if she didn't understand how to go from hole to hole, she liked jabbing the needle around.
Here's an example of the real deal: http://www.etsy.com/listing/47825130/sewing-cards?ref=sr_gallery_31&ga_search_query=lacing+cards&ga_search_type=vintage&ga_page=2&order=&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title
Lacing cards were more of a vintage toy, but my set came from the teachers' school supply store. If you have some chipboard for scrapbooking, you could probably make your own just as easily! The string has sealed ends like a shoestring.
That is really sweet. She wants to do what momma is doing! :)
What a cutie and isnt' it great when kids enjoy such simple "toys"!!!
Before long she'll be able to handle knitting needles!!
Oooh, maybe that's not such a good idea...
I'll have to remember this when Georgie is a little older. I can't wait to have craft time with the babe!
Sew Sweet! smiles.
SHE is soooo cute....wants to be just like Mommy...and she couldn't find a better role model.
Aww thank you so much everyone, you're all so sweet!
